Året er 1933. Det er hårde tider i Philadelphia, hvor lille Gennaro bor sammen med sin mor, og sin excentriske men humoristiske bedstefar. Men dagen i dag er en speciel dag. I dag åbner en splinter ny biograf i byen, og for sølle 25 cents kan man komme ind til den allerførste visning. Og Gennaro vil med. For i morgen er det ikke det samme. Men hvordan får man fat i 25 cents i en fart? ”Hvis jeg dør i dag, skal du får mine 25 cents” siger bedstefar. Men er det rimeligt, at ens bedstefar skal dø, for at man kan komme i biografen?

Academy Award Winner Al Pacino (The Godfather, Scarface, The Merchant of Venice) stars in this Depression-era tale.
It's a stifling hot summer's day in South Philadelphia and Grandpa (Pacino) has decided that this day will be his last. His grandson Gennaro however, has more pressing concerns on his mind: today's the opening of the La Paloma, a grand new cinema, and he needs twenty-five cents to attend the first show.
As Gennaro struggles to raise the two bits needed for admission, Grandpa comes up with a way of earning the money which takes the two into a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation.
Narrated by Alec Baldwin (The Aviator, Glengarry Glen Ross) and also starring Academy Award nominee Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Scarface, The Colour of Money, The Perfect Storm), Two Bits is a touching drama from James Foley, the director of Confidence and The Chamber. |
